Christian association concerned about discrimination against persons who refuse common identification code
The Moldovan citizens who refuse to apply for identification papers with common identification code for religious reasons encounter difficulties in finding jobs and are deprived of basic assistance and the right to sell or buy real estate, give birth at the maternity hospital, receive pension and pay taxes, the Association of Orthodox Christians "Blessed Mother Matroana” says, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
“The state authorities and the administration of the Orthodox Church, under the pressure exerted by transnational organizations, accepted to distribute the identification code for life to the people who have the permanent domicile in Moldova. This code is written in the identification papers. Since 2004, we have written petitions, contesting this decision,” legal consultant at the Metropolitan Church of Chisinau and All Moldova Elena Batca said at a news conference on November 3.
Archpriest Anatolie Cibric, bishop of the Chisinau church “Pious Parascheva” and a member of the association, stressed that this identification code used in all the areas of activity is an insult to religion and seems to be the archfiend’s stamp, as John the Apostle (Theologian) prophesied. “The Tribunal in Nürnberg ruled that the distribution of the identification code is a crime against humanity, alongside other fascist crimes,” the bishop said.
By ministerial decision, many persons obtained the right to be issued with birth certificates, health policies and drivers’ licenses without identification code, but all the institutions ask for the identity card, Elena Batca said.
According to the Association of Orthodox Christians "Blessed Mother Matroana”, there are more than 10,000 people in Moldova who possess Form No. 9, which is a temporary identity document without identification code. Some of them held identity cards with numerical code, but renounced it. Others continue to hold Soviet-type passports, while the largest part have no identification papers.
The association demands that the law on the national identification papers be modified so that the Christians who do not want to be allotted identification code are not discriminated. On November 4, the association will stage a protest in front of the Palace of the Republic, where the Parliament holds its sittings, to draw the MP’s attention to this problem.
