Inhabitants and guests of the capital city can visit the Christmas Bazaar based on the section of 31 August St between the streets Bănulescu-Bodoni and Pushkin for a month as of December 15. In the event to inaugurate the bazaar, the band “Brio Sonoris” sang the event’s hymn – the carol “Home on Christmas” - and fireworks were displayed there, IPN reports.
Attending the event, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said he associates the winter holidays with the family, his boys, his grandchild and what is called home as well as with his native village Pănășești. They are also an association with the hills where he spent his childhood and with Chisinau city where he lives now. Surely, home for him means the Republic of Moldova, as for all the citizens.
“Regrettably, we forget to thank each other, to give more warmth to each other and to spend more time with the dear ones. That’s why, alongside the traditional “Happy New Year!”, this year try to also give more, to go to the villages where you were born and to offer more,” stated the Premier, noting the Christmas Bazaar is a present for the citizens so that they enjoy a warm atmosphere as everyone deserves to rest after working throughout the year.
The visitors of the marketplace could have pictures near the fir tree brought from Romania’s Carpathian Mountains and buy handicrafts, traditional dishes and mulled wine. A panoramic wheel that is 20 meters in height was installed nearby. The children can make a tour of the “magical town” with an enchanted train. The visitors can rediscover the spiritual part of Christmas at the Scene of the God’s Birth in the courtyard of the Museum of Arts.
In a specially laid out area, Santa Claus is waiting for kids to listen to their poems and offer them presents. The largest skating rink of the country was put up at the venue.
The Government allocated about 11 million lei for organizing the second Christmas Bazaar, including for installing video surveillance cameras in the area.
