“Ciocarliei” case remitted to court
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office completed the investigation and sent the case involving former acting mayor of Chisinau Vasile Ursu, the head of the City Hall’s Land Division Nicolae Craciun and ex-secretary of the Municipal Council Nicolae Monastarli to the Centru Court, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The three are accused of misconduct in office when selling the plot of 2.04 hectares located on Ciocaliei St.
On July 25, 2006 the Chisinau Municipal Council approved the list of plots that were to be sold at auction, including the land from Ciocarliei St at the initial price of 30 million lei. In a month, the Council made a new decision to sell the given plot, but this time for 3 million lei. A residential quarter was to be built on that plot.
SRL “Moldconstruct Market” offered a price of 4.5 million lei for the land and won the auction held in October 2006.
The accused persons are investigated outside prison. According to the legislation, the municipal councilors do not bear responsibility for the decisions adopted while they hold their posts.
