Citizens to be informed about exclusion of obligation to present health insurance policy

The National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) during the next three months will carry out a campaign to inform about the exclusion of the obligation to present the health insurance policy on paper to benefit from medical services and compensated medicines, IPN reports.

The citizens no longer have to present the health insurance policy on paper as the CNAM keeps a record of the medically insured persons in electronic form through a specialized information system. The patient will present only the identity card or the temporary identity card based on which authorized medical employees will check the person’s status in the information system and medical services and compensated drugs could be thus accessed.

The status of medically insured person can be checked on the CNAM’s website in a special rubric.

In a press release, the CNAM said TV and radio stations until March 31, 2019 will broadcast advertisements in Romanian and Russian by which the people will be informed about the new conditions. A longer version of the advert about how to obtain the status of insured person will be shown on screens in the halls of public health facilities.

There will also be distributed brochures with information about the rights and obligations of beneficiaries in the mandatory health insurance system, access to compensated medicines, registration with the family doctor and the replacement of this.
