Citizens will be able to file on-line police complaints
Citizens will be able to file on-line complaints to the police, right out of their homes or any other place, through the internet, without having to go to commissariats or police stations. It will become possible due to an on-line petitioning system that is to be launched by the end of 2013 by the Ministry of the Interior.
Minister Dorin Recean told Info-Prim Neo that, through the launching of this platform, the Ministry aims at improving the efficiency in communication between citizens and law enforcement bodies. “Presently, there is a problem, namely that people seek help, but get little response. This system, however, will allow the citizen to monitor on which phase the petition is and who handles it at this particular point”, said the Minister.
Dorin Recean stated that the citizens will be able to file any type of complaint, for any violation of rights or aggression. Likewise, cases of police corruption will also be eligible for filing. The on-line system will be a mechanism equivalent to the traditional commissariat complaint.
Dorin Recean added that presently there is an on-line platform run by the MoI's Traffic Police Division, dubbed “The Eyewitness”, which only represents a simplified variant, and refers only to the traffic police.
