Cleaning works resumed in Chisinau
The Chisinau sanitation services have three weeks to clean the parks and main streets by the Easter holidays. The education and medical-sanitary institutions will also be involved in the sanitation campaign, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At Monday's meeting of the Chisinau City Hall, Petru Gontea, the head of the Public Amenities Division, said the snow that fell last week caused trouble and hindered the sanitation works.
“Intense cleaning works have been carried out inside quarters. There were collected 71 trucks of garbage. No antiskid materials were used there, as on streets and sidewalks, so that there is not so much work to do. Yet, more money and human resources are needed for cleaning the sidewalks and parks,” Gontea said.
The benches in parks and the playgrounds will be repaired the next days. At the request of the Public Amenities Division, students and employees of medical institutions will be engaged in the sanitation campaign. They will clean up near schools and hospitals.
The head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division Veaceslav Tarna said works will be soon carried out to stop up the holes on the streets going to churches and cemeteries. “Until then, we will deal with the pluvial drainage channels. If they are not cleaned, any heavy rain can cause floods,” Tarna said.
