Given the large number of abortions, massive migration and the high death rate, the Bishopric of Balti and Falesti called on the families of priests to give a reproduction example by giving birth to three-four children in order to maintain the birth rate. A campaign was launched in this respect, themed “Moldova close to becoming a cemetery: Save Moldova”.
In a news conference at IPN, priest Maxim Guzun from Sangerei district said that on the pretext of the European integration, the authorities brought Moldova close to a collapse. The current government promised many things, but since the European integration process was launched, the people witnessed only raider attacks and robberies that were unprecedented in the 22 years since Moldova became an independent state. Therefore, at an assembly on October 11, the clergy of the Bishopric of Balti and Falesti adopted a joint statement and launched the campaign “Moldova close to becoming a cemetery: Save Moldova”. The Bishopric of Balti and Falesti submitted a series of proposals that can contribute to stopping the mass exodus of people and to increasing the birth rate.
The statement urges all the Orthodox Christians to pray to clear the minds of the rulers. The priests pledged to become an example for increasing natality. The Church called upon the authorities to stage anti-abortion and anti-divorce seminars for young families during the first two years of marriage.
The statement also calls on the MPs to restore the legal provisions banning the propagation of homosexuality, to ban by law the abortion and to consult society about the liberalized visa regime so as not to create conditions for the mass emigration of the population.
