The National Integrity Commission initiated verification proceedings against the acting head of the Chisinau public transportation and roads division Igor Gamretchi. CNI will verify the official's income and properties and whether a conflict of interest existed in the tender for the contract to repair Alecu Russo Street. The Commission will also verify the assets obtained in 2013 by Ivan Vrabie, deputy mayor of Harbovat village, Anenii Noi district, and Gheorghe Netedu, deputy head of Cimislia district, IPN reports.

According to a press release of CNI, the Commission met today, August 21, and found that several heads of public institutions have violated the law concerning the declaration of income and properties and of conflicts of interests. One of them is Ion Haralampov, director of forestry agency Hancesti-Silva, who won a tender for the rent of 4 hectares for 49 years at a yearly rent fee of 17,800 lei.

Eugeniu Nazaria, former director of the forestry and hunting agency Straseni, found himself in a similar situation by failing to report a conflict of interests. He won a tender for the rent of 0.516 hectares for 49 years at a yearly rent fee of 2296 lei.

The regulation for the organization and unfolding of forest tenders stipulates that employees of the central forestry authority and of its branches cannot participate as bidders if acting in their own name, whether directly or through representatives.

During today's meeting, CNI discussed the case of another director who failed to properly report his income and properties. This is Igor Druta, former deputy head of the Penitentiary Department, who didn't declare his and his wife's income and other assets obtained from the appropriation of several land parcels, 11 bank accounts and a bank deposit registered on his wife's name. The National Integrity Commission will later submit the file for examination to the General Prosecutor's Office.
