Communists summon Usatii, Zubco for hearing in Parliament
Communist MP Grigore Petrenco has requested Parliament to summon Minister of Health Andrei Usatii and Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco to appear before the legislature for questions over reports of “pharmaceutical experiments” at the National Psychiatry Hospital, Info-Prim Neo reports.
As Petrenco claims, following an order signed by former Health Minister Vladimir Hotineanu, Moldova “became a drill ground for testing all kinds of drugs on patients in psychiatric hospitals”. The MP also alleged that Hotineanu's order is implemented in practice by his relatives at the mental institutions concerned.
Andrei Usatii and Valeriu Zubco are awaited before Parliament next week.
In September, an NGO called Moldova Mea reported that 220 patients at the National Psychiatry Hospital had underwent illegal pharmaceutical experiments during five months as part of tests commissioned by a Romanian company for informal fees of $250 per patient.
