The air has become more polluted in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti. The Environment Agency said that in the last two days, the maximum concentration of hazardous substances in the air exceeded the permissible limits 1.2 to 1.8 times. In the coming days, the lack of precipitation and the weak movement of air masses in the horizontal direction will contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the air, IPN reports.
"In the last 24 hours, the weather has been stable. The lack of precipitation, the weak wind and the presence of thermal inversions contributed to the accumulation of pollutants in the air," reads a press release from the Environment Agency.
At the same time, the maximum concentration on Friday exceeded the sanitary norm in Chisinau for nitrogen dioxide 1.2 times and for solid suspensions 1.4 times. In Balti, the norm for nitrogen dioxide was exceeded 1.5 times.
The maximum permissible concentration for the daily average in Chisinau was exceeded 2.1 times for nitrogen dioxide, 2.7 times for nitric oxide and 1.8 times for formic aldehyde.
