Patriotism does not mean only loving and praising you country. It also means persuading others to do the same and doing the best that can be done for this country. This is the message transmitted by Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan at a concert of patriotic songs held in memory of those who died in the Nistru war, IPN reports.
Alexandru Jizdan spoke about the sacrifice made by those who took part in the war, for the country and for the children’s future. He noted that the Ministry of the Interior is willing to promote the traditions and to engage the veterans in patriotic activities that would help the young generation to know Moldova’s past and the real values.
The concert of patriotic songs in memory of those killed in the Nistru war was staged for the first time, in a move to cultivate patriotism among employees of the Ministry of the Interior, with the assistance and involvement of veterans who struggled for the country’s independence and sovereignty.
On March 2, it will be 26 years of the start of the war for defending the independence and integrity of the Republic of Moldova. The war involved about 30,000 Moldovans. Over 400 civilians and 300 combatants were killed, while several hundreds were hurt. The ceasefire agreement between Moldova and Russia was signed on July 21, 1992. The Remembrance Day to commemorate those killed in battles is marked on March 2.
