The Young Governor Institute opened a contest for 50 vacant seats in the 3rd Youth Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Eremia Iurie, a youth parliamentarian, told a press conference on August 5 that young people aged between 16 and 23 can apply regardless of their native language and studies. Their must attach a recommendation letter from a Moldovan MP, minister or mayor of a town or village to their application file. They must also present 100 signatures that support their candidacy.
Applications will be received until September 11, and then a commission will be created for the second round, the interview.
“Young parliamentarians will maintain a constructive network with members of the decisional bodies from Moldova, will gain experience as legislators, will maintain a permanent dialogue with youth from rural regions, will analyze and monitor electoral programs and political parties’ decisions”, said Eremia Iurie.
Valentina Andronie, member of the Youth Parliament, said that the young lawmakers’ activity wasn’t limited to Chisinau. They went in districts, where they discussed with NGO leaders about promoting the youth and involving them in the decision-making process and about other existing matters in Moldova.
The Youth Parliament was created in 2008, at the initiative of the Young Governor Institute, in partnership with the Moldovan Parliament. The youth legislative forum is open for all young Moldovan citizens, including those from the Transnistrian region. It has 101 parliamentarians and 20 substitute members. The third legislative term Parliament was invested in April 2011.
