Contest for design of monument to victims of Stalinist regime reopened
The contest to choose the best design for the monument to the victims of the Stalinist regime was resumed. The applications can be filed to the Chisinau City Hall by June 5, 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The monument will be placed in the square in front of the Railway Terminal in Chisinau. The Chisinau administration also intends to restore the crosswalks and the square fountain and to install a stage for cultural activities.
The sculptural composition must represent a synthesis of the Communist-Stalinist genocide and to transmit a message to the future generations.
In order to take part in the contest, the authors must present the following documents: the positioning plan, the detailed plan, the model of the sculptural composition, a memorandum arguing the approved solutions, including the basic technical-economic indicators (expenditure estimate).
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said on Monday that no winner has been selected yet that though the contest was announced by the decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council in 2006.
When taking office, Dorin Chirtoaca said that the monument will be placed in the square in front of the Railway Terminal in Chisinau until July 6, 2009, when it is 60 years of the Stalinist deportations of 1949.
