Contraband cigarettes seized during Moldovan-Romanian operation

More than 30,000 packets of cigarettes were confiscated during a joint operation performed by Moldovan border guards and Romanian border policemen. Three smugglers were arrested, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the Border Guard Service says the arrested persons are citizens of Moldova. On September 27, after being furnished with relevant information, the Moldovan border guards started an operation in concert with police officers of the County Inspectorate of the Vaslui Border Police in order to catch persons who smuggled contraband over the Prut red-handed. On the Romanian bank of the river, there were found 33 parcels with cigarettes made in Moldova. A 22-year-old man was hiding nearby. On the Moldovan bank of the Prut, the border guards identified two citizens of Moldova, a rubber boat and the motor vehicles used by them.
