The head of the Family Doctors Center of Drochia and the senior nurse were arrested by offices of the National Anticorruption Center on suspicion that they asked for money from the Center’s employees, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the National Anticorruption Center, an employee of the institution informed that the senior nurse and the Center’s head regularly ask for 300 to 500 lei from the institution’s employee’s on the pretext that they have influence on members of the Accreditation Commission for medical institutions and can convince them not to place obstacles to the accreditation of employees. During inspections at the Family Doctors Center, the officers found 45,000 lei that was collected from the employees and confiscated the lists with the signatories of persons who gave money.

Three criminal cases were started over passive corruption and traffic of influence. The prosecutors will ask for an arrest warrant for the Center’s head and senior nurse. They face three to ten years in jail.
