Crime rate over 5% up

More than 35,000 offenses were committed in Moldova last year. The crime rate rose by over 5%. The data were presented in a news conference on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. First Deputy Prosecutor General Andrei Pintea said there were committed 43 extremely serious crimes and 72 serious offenses. Most of the offenses were thefts and robberies. The number of cases of murder, rape, human trafficking and causing of serious injuries decreased. The crime rate increased mainly in the districts of Ialoveni, Briceni, Orhei, Criuleni, Hincesti, Straseni, and Bender. In Drochia, Edinet, Riscani, Causeni, Nisporeni and Dubasari, there were committed fewer offenses. Throughout the year the prosecutors investigated 6 078 criminal cases. Over 8,000 persons were convicted.
