The Ministry of the Interior started a criminal case over the May 1 fire on an attack-like apartment story in Botanica district of Chisinau, namely over the intentional destruction of property by fire and the performance of construction works of a poor quality, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO).

The PGO ordered creating a prosecution group consisting of prosecutors and prosecution officers of the Ministry of the Interior. A number of versions of what happened are being examined, including negligence on the part of decision makers responsible for the quality of constructions and anti-fire security of buildings.

Twenty-eight attic-like apartments were destroyed by fire on May 1. The prosecution group drew up a plan of action for identifying the persons to blame and holding them accountable.
