Customs officer caught with €300 and $1,500 bribe
An officer of the Giurgiulesti-Galati customs office was caught in the act of taking €300 bribe. Upon a search, in his shoes there was found US$1,500, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime.
A man told the anti-corruption officers that the 26-year-old customs officer asked €300 from him for returning his car that was seized in the customs on December 10.
The officer is liable to five to ten years in prison and a fine of up to 60,000 lei for passive corruption. He risks being deprived of the right to hold certain posts for a period of two to five years. He is now held at the remand center in Cahul.
