The Customs Service will open an internal inquiry in the case of the female customs officer of the Chisinau International Airport who is suspected of committing abuses while checking passengers of the Chisinau – Tel Aviv flight. For the period of the internal inquiry, the customs officer was suspended. She risks being dismissed, IPN has learned from the Customs Service.

Two days ago, two women at the Chisinau International Airport paid for the excess baggage, but later an employee of the Customs Service asked again money from them. The incident was reported on a social networking site by an eyewitness.

The Customs Service asks to report possible cases of abuse involving customs officers on the specialized anticorruption line +373 22 574-111. All the reports will be dealt with by the Integrity and Surveillance Division of the Customs Service and all the required legal measures will be taken by preserving the confidentiality of callers.
