Czech Republic offers €9m to Moldova
The Czech Republic will provide about €9 million in financial assistance to Moldova during the next three years for the socioeconomic development of the country. The subject was discussed in an official meeting of Minister of Regional Development and Construction Marcel Raducan, Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Tomas Dub and Czech Ambassador to Moldova Jaromir Kvapil, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction.
Marcel Raducan said the Czech Republic’s experience in the area of regional development is useful to Moldova, while the assistance provided will increase the specialists’ capacities and the efficiency of the development projects implemented in the country’s districts.
For his part, Tomas Dub said the Czech Republic encounters difficulties in offering financial assistance to non-EU member states, but Moldova is a top priority. He stated that the aim of his visit to Chisinau is to familiarize himself with the results achieved, the problems identified meanwhile and the methods of providing assistance in continuation.
According to the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, 21 of the 26 projects implemented in the country’s regions are financed with public money, while the other five with support from the German Agency for International Development (GIZ). The value of the projects is €170 million. The was money allocated for managing household waste, setting up water and sewerage systems, repairing and building roads, improving energy efficiency, supporting the small and medium-sized businesses, and increasing tourist attractiveness.
