Damaged trolleybuses will resume work in a month

The new trolleybus that was involved in a traffic accident at the end of October will be ready to work in a month. In Monday’s ordinary meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, the head of the Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci said the parts needed to repair it will be brought from the Belarusian trolleybus factory this weekend, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Morgoci, the repair of the damaged trolleybus will cost €8,000 to €10,000. The costs will be covered by the insurance company. “It was established that we are the injured party, while the other two drivers involved in the accident will be probably declared as parties to blame for the accident,” said Gheorghe Morgoci. The road accident happened in Chisinau’s Botanica district on October 24. One of the two vehicles that collided crashed into a minibus running on Route No. 4. The trolleybus was projected into a pole. A number of passengers sustained injuries, while the driver of one of the cars died. The damaged trolleybus started work on October 15 and traveled only a week. The Chisinau City Hall bought 102 trolleybuses from the Belarusian factory Belkommunmash within a project to modernize the public transport, which is financed by the EBRD, EIB and the European Union. Under an agreement reached by the City Hall and the factory, new trolleybuses will be assembled in Chisinau from next spring.
