Danger of floods in Ștefan Vodă, Pavel Filip instructs to set up crisis cell

Prime Minister Pavel Filip ordered to create a crisis cell that would efficiently and coordinately mange the actions in the areas bordering the Nistru River that could damage levees if it floods. Service members of the armed forces and carabiners will lend a hand in repairing and reinforcing the levees.

The decision was taken in a meeting convened on May 23 owing to the danger of floods following the heavy rain that fell in Ștefan Vodă district, especially in the localities situated close to the Nistru, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

The works to reinforce the levees in Palanca are under way. The situation is to be assessed in Crocmaz, Răscăieți Vechi, Olănești, Purcari and Talmaza villages so as to take the required measures there. Local emergencies commissions were set up in all the villages that face risks of floods. The levee between the villages Tudora and Crocmaz is the most problematic sector that needs to be strengthened.

The Premier instructed to mobilize service members and carabineers to execute levee repair and reinforcement works so that the levees could cope with possible floods. About 300 service members, carabineers, foresters, builders and road workers and more than 10 special vehicles will be engaged in the works.
