The director general of “Orizont” Lyceum of Chisinau Turgay Şen gave details about his arrest a week ago following the disseminated press reports, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the education institution.

“The director general of the Private Education Institution “Orizont” Theoretical Lyceum calls on the journalists to broadcast information about his situation based on direct interviews with him. He specifies that he does not blame and pronounced no name of the politicians, state officials or political party leaders who are covered or mentioned by the press and stated his own opinion on his arrest. Mister Turgay Șen said the press articles written outside his statements do not represent his personal opinion,” it is said in the press release.

On March 31, 2018, director Turgay Şen was arrested at the Chisinau International Airport when he intended to go on a trip abroad. According to the press, this was arrested by employees of the Security and Intelligence Service. He was later taken to the custody of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases. After several hours of discussions, he was set free, being classed as a suspect. The press also quoted sources close to Turgay Şen, who confirmed that the summons issued to this stipulated reasons related to terrorism financing. The same sources said the director of “Orizont” Lyceum, who is a Turkish citizen, asked for political asylum in Moldova so that he was not arrested by the recent example in Kosovo.

On March 29, the police in Kosovo arrested six Turkish citizens, teachers of lyceums of the same network, and extradited these later to Turkey. In connection with this case, the Prime Minister of Kosovo dismissed the minister of the interior and the secret services chief.
