Disappointing start at World Wrestling Championships

The Moldovan wrestlers had a disappointing start at the World Wrestling Championships in Moscow, with all the Greco-Roman wrestlers – Donior Islamov (51 kg), Tudor Gaivan (66 kg), Andrei Mocanu (84 kg) and Marin Cazac (96 kg) – suffering defeats and failing to advance to the next round, Info-Prim Neo reports. At women's, Natalia Budu also failed having lost in the inaugural round to Finland's Tiina Ylinen. On Thursday Ludmila Cristea will try her luck in the 59 kg category. On Friday, the freestyle wrestlers will enter the competition. Moldova is represented by 7 wrestlers: Alexandru Chirtoaca (55 kg), Vladimir Gotisan (60 kg), Andrei Prepelita (66 kg), Roman Dermenji (74 kg), Piotr Ianulov (84), Nicolai Ceban (96 kg), and Andrei Podsevalnicov (120 kg).
