Distinctions offered to two rising stars of Moldovan wrestling
Iulia Leorda and Mihail Cazac, who recently won a silver and a bronze medal at the Wrestling World Championship for Cadets in Szombathely, Hungary, received money
prizes and training boots from the National Wrestling Federation.
Attending the event, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Octavian Bodisteanu said he was proud of the performance showed by the two young athletes. “I am very glad that these two young people competed so successfully and I'm confident they'll have even better results in future tournaments”, said Octavian Bodisteanu.
Iulia Leorda and Mihail Cazac also were awarded diplomas and medals from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Iulia Leorda told reporters that she wrestled in the finals with the representatives of Italy, Bulgaria and Sweden, but the toughest encounter was with Japan's representatives in the struggle for the first place. For his part, Mihail Cazac said that his most difficult encounter was with Russia's representative.
Victor Peicov, the president of the National Wrestling Federation, said he was satisfied with the results achieved by the Moldovan team and was looking confident towards future tournaments.
Moldova was represented at the Wrestling World Championship for Cadets in Szombathely by a team of 10 athletes.
