Doctor accused of bribing judges gets 115,000 lei fine

A famous obstetrician from a Chisinau hospital has been ordered to pay a 115,000 lei ($6,680) fine in a case of influence peddling, under a ruling issued by the Chisinau Court on March 11.
 
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release the defendant entered a guilty plea early in the proceedings and as a result the fine was discounted by a fourth.
 
In October 2018, doctor Vadim Scarlat was arrested after he offered a 2,000 euros bribe to a judge to dismiss a case where was accused of malpractice that resulted in the death of a child.
