Doctor arrested for asking for 3,000 lei for smooth delivery
Officers of the Anticorruption Center arrested the chief doctor of a perinatological center located in northern Moldova for asking for 3 000 lei from a pregnant woman for providing medical assistance to ensure the smooth running of the delivery, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The arrest was made in the office of the obstetrician, where there was found the money marked ‘bribe’.
The doctor was put under arrest for 72 hours and is investigated for passive corruption. He faces 5 to 10 years in jail or a fine of 20 000 to 60 000 lei
The Anticorruption Center has investigated 24 cases of passive corruption so far this year.
