Doctors to blame for death of woman diagnosed with pandemic flu to be punished
The fourth case of death caused by pandemic influenza in Chisinau was the result of the family doctor's inadequacy and the groundless refusal of the doctor of the hospitalization division of Archangel Mikhail and Gabriel Hospital to admit the patient. At a meeting of the municipal antiepidemic commission on Thursday, Luminita Suveica, acting head of the Health Division, said these persons will be held accountable, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the official, the family doctor who examined the patient who had pains in the neck and fever, but did not administer Tamiflu to her will be reprimanded. The doctor decided that the woman had acute bronchitis and pneumonia and recommended that she be hospitalized. The doctor of the hospitalization division of Archangel Mikhail and Gabriel Hospital redirected the patient to Saint Trinity Hospital, saying there were no available places for patients with pneumonia, but did not examine her. At Saint Trinity Hospital, the patient was diagnosed with pandemic flu and offered medical assistance, but it was too late, Suveica said.
The three persons that died from pandemic flu in Chisinau earlier did not duly ask for medical assistance.
