Drugs will get cheaper in first quarter of next year, health minister
The Government decided that the medications imported after September 1 will be assessed according to the prices set in the National Catalogue of Prices, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu said some of the economic entities, instead of hurrying to register the producer prices in accordance with the new regulations, store up drugs for the purpose of selling them on the basis of the old price formation methods, i.e. according to the price declared at customs. This will not happen, said the minister. The control bodies will foil such attempts if the drugs were imported after September 1.
Asked when the drugs will get really cheater, Vladimir Hotineanu said it will happen in the first quarter of next year. He stated that the aim of this reform is to improve the socially underprivileged groups’ access to medications sold at reasonable prices.
About 6,000 names of drugs are registered in Moldova. The National Catalogue of Prices includes the producer prices of 4,200 medications. The profit margin in drugstores and storehouses cannot exceed 40% of the price.
