Drugstore selling unauthorized medicines deprived of license

The drugstore Lemas-Farm remained without the license after anticorruption officers established that it was selling drugs not registered in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime. This is the second penalty imposed on the drugstore for illegal medical and pharmaceutical activity. Earlier, the drugstore paid a fine of 2 000 lei, while the seized medications were destroyed. Two weeks ago, anticorruption officers discovered drugs without certificates of quality and documents of origin to the value of 8 600 lei. The drugs included Antifagin, Anotoxin, Bacteriofag Complex, and Bacteriofag Stafilococ that were sold for 500 to 750 lei apiece. Allegedly, the drugs were smuggled into the country, avoiding the quality examination that was to be performed by the laboratory of the Medication Agency. The medicines were brought in small batches and kept in inappropriate conditions. According to specialists, the discovered drugs are extremely sensitive and must be kept at temperatures of 2 – 8 degrees Celsius. Otherwise, they may lose their effect and even cause side effects. Under the legislation of Moldova, the drugs can be sold only after they are authorized by the Ministry of Health.
