Dubasari Prosecutor’s Office investigates legality of peacekeeper’s acts

The Prosecutor’s Office of Dubasari district is examining the legality of the steps taken by the chief of the peacekeeping post No. 9 who fatally injured a security zone resident from his gun on January 1, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office. According to the communiqué, the victim was driving a VAZ car from Pirita village to Vadul lui Voda town. Driving at high speed, he displaced the safety barrier of the peacekeeping post No. 9 and, without reacting to sentinels’ demands to stop, left the place. In a while, the driver returned and was again told to stop, but he did not obey. The peacekeeping post’s chief fired several shots from his AKC 74 gun. A bullet penetrated the car’s door and, entering the driver’s seat, injured him seriously in the back. The man was taken to the Emergency Hospital in Chisinau, where he died several hours later. Representatives of the law enforcement bodies of Dubasari district and of the Joint Control Commission on behalf of Moldova, Ukraine, Russia and Transnistria and the commander of the Dubasari Peacekeeping Forces on behalf of Russia Evghenny Zotov traveled to the scene to examine the circumstances of the incident.
