EBRD Director for Caucasus, Moldova and Belarus on visit to Chisinau

The Director for Caucasus, Moldova and Belarus of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Paul-Henri Forestier is paying a visit to Chisinau between October 5 and 7. While in Chisinau, he will have meetings with the Moldovan authorities, representatives of the international organizations working in Chisinau and representatives of the companies that benefit from EBRD investment, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the bank. Paul-Henri Forestier will reaffirm the EBRD's commitment to support the development of the Moldovan economy by investing in the transport sector, municipal infrastructure and energy efficiency projects, the communique says. Supporting the financial sector in the current difficult market conditions is one of the key priorities for the EBRD. The EBRD will help increase the financial intermediation level through new credit lines provided to banks and micro-finance institutions for on-lending to micro, small and medium-sized companies. By this yearend, the EBRD will sign investment projects in Moldova to the value of €80million.. Since the beginning of its operations in Moldova, the EBRD has invested over €300 million in over 55 projects in the infrastructure, corporate, financial and energy sectors. The EBRD funds attracted additional investments worth €235 million to the Moldovan economy.
