EBRD supports investment projects in Moldova

The Moldovan authorities efficiently cooperate with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in different areas, especially in implementing investment projects, deputy minister of economy Valeriu Triboi said in a meeting of the Board of the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environmental Partnership (E5P) in Moldova, which was held in Chisinau, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the Ministry of Economy.

According to the deputy minister, an example is the project implemented at the thermoelectric plant CET-Nord, where €7 million of the €10 million allocated by the development partners was provided by the EBRD. The Bank also decided to lend €6.2 million to the Italian company La Triveneta Cavi for building its branch in Moldova - La Triveneta Cavi Development SRL.

After the decision to offer a loan to the Italian company was taken, EBRD Director for Manufacturing and Services Frederic Lucenet said the Bank is delighted to support foreign direct investment in Moldova because this investment offers the possibility of creating new jobs and brings innovations and new technology to the country.

The industrial park “Triveneta Cavi Development” is based in Straseni town. It occupies an area of about 11 ha. The production hall will be about 13,600 square meters in area. The investments for creating and developing the technical and production infrastructure of the park total about €20 million.

The EBRD is the largest institutional investor in Moldova. To date the Bank has signed over 100 investments in the country, covering the energy, transport, agribusiness, general industry and banking sectors, and totaling almost €1 billion. Earlier, the Bank financed the construction of the branches of the German company Draexlmaier and Austrian company Gebauer & Griller in Moldova.
