Romania assumes decisive role in Moldova’s energy security
Romania’s energy sector “must have the capacity to satisfy all the needs of the Republic of Moldova, for an indefinite period, under any circumstances,” IPN reports, referring to National, which quotes “Romania’s Energy Strategy 2025-2035, with a Perspective for 2050.” The document certifies that the government in Bucharest undertook to fully ensure the energy supply of the Republic of Moldova, arguing that Romania’s energy security is “inextricably linked to that of its neighbors from over the Prut”.
Chisinau’s budget expenditure for this year by 11.1% higher than last year
The general revenues of the municipal budget for 2024 were projected at 7.56 billion lei. These include specific purpose transfers from the state budget in the amount of 3.99 billion lei and an expenditure of 8.2 billion lei, with a budget balance of 644 million lei.

NAER proposes lower heat charge than Termoelectrica
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) suggested a lower heat charge than the one requested by JSC Termoelectrica. A draft decision published for public consultations indicates a charge of 1,824 lei/Gcal, as opposed to 1,997 lei/Gcal stipulated in the supplier’s request.

Wheat harvest this year estimated at 1.5 million tonnes
The harvesting of wheat has started in Moldova and the estimated yield is 1.4-1.5 million tonnes of wheat. Most of the wheat – one million tonnes – is traditionally destined for export, said Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry.
Romania reduces tax on electricity imports and exports to Moldova and Ukraine
The Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority has announced a reduction in the regulated tariff applied by the national energy system operator, Transelectrica, to all electricity import, export and transit transactions planned with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

Farmers’ Force: We demand extension of controlled import of grain from Ukraine
The “Farmers’ Force” Association seeks the extension of the controlled import of grain and oilseeds from Ukraine, and not its prohibition – a measure active in the European countries neighboring Ukraine as a tool to protect local agricultural producers. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea and the responsible parliamentary commission, the Association said that if the authorities do not identify an urgent solution, the farmers will protest en masse.
WB launches initiative to scale up energy efficiency, which involves Moldova

Tender contest to build 165 MW wind and photovoltaic farms to be launched next week
The tender contest for the construction of wind and photovoltaic farms with a total capacity of 165 MW will be launched next week. A decision in this regard was adopted by the tender commission led by Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov. It approved the tender documentation, which is to be translated into English and published for the attention of potential investors.
Moldova gains immediate access to disbursement of over $175 million from IMF
The Republic of Moldova will be immediate disbursed SDR 133 million (about $175.2 million) usable for budget support by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF Executive Board concluded the fifth review under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and Extended Fund Facility (EFF), and the first review under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), for the Republic of Moldova. Thus, Moldova’s total disbursements under the ongoing program arrangements will amount to about $636.5 million.
