Education institution heads will hold post for five years
All the heads of education institutions will be named to posts by contest for a five-year term, regardless of their rank in the education system, following the approval by the Government of modifications to the Education Law, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Minister of Education Leonid Bujor said the period of five years, as opposed to four years until present except for university rectors, is sufficient for fulfilling the ideas and plans presented by the applicant who won the post by contest.
At the same time, the unjustified practice when a person heads an education establishment for many years will be removed. Presently, 2/3 of the heads of general education institutions have held the position for a long period of time without being tested, remaining thus outside competition.
“The measure is designed to ensure equity. We will create a well-prepared managerial body that will make correct decisions as regards the implementation of reforms in education,” Leonid Bujor said.
