The education system of the Republic of Moldova needs a transformation so as to respond to the challenges of the future. The school curriculum implemented seven years ago does not prove its efficiency as technologies and innovations advanced a lot. Such opinions were stated by participants in the education forum “My view for our school,” IPN reports.
Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc, in the opening of the forum, said a series of public consultations with all the subjects of education stages, from students to experts, were held in the course of this year to agree a new view on the school. Moldova needs another over 2,000 teachers, especially in training engineers, doctors and architects whose programs of study need to be adjusted to the current requirements.
Monica Babuc noted that the curricula for the primary and secondary stages were supplemented with new subjects, such as Technological Education, Digital Education and Robotics, which are designed to transform the education process. Each first grade teacher received by a tablet PC to implement the Digital Education module.
Attending the event, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said an international study showed over 5 million jobs will disappear in 2020 and another 2 million jobs will appear so that the current students should be ready for jobs that do not yet exist. “We need to transform the education system so as to deal with all these challenges. Technologies and innovations advanced a lot,” stated the Premier.
According to Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici, each teacher should hold a tablet PC in the hands when teaching. The changes started by introducing digital education and dual education.
The education forum “My view for our school” is a results assessment event staged by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.
