Preliminary calculations show that following the rise in tariffs, the end-users will have to pay at least 1.25 billion lei more for electricity, while the private and corporate consumers will pay 450 million lei more for gas. The calculations were done by economic expert Gheorghe Costandachi, who wrote on his blog that the national currency would massively depreciate after the first year of increased tariffs and this would lead to other price rises, IPN reports.
The higher costs for electricity will cause layoffs at some companies following the rise in the prices of their products and services. This will lead to lower sales volumes and, respectively, to lower production volumes.
According to the expert, a 1% rise in the energy resources supplied to end-users causes an increase in the prices of all the products and services deriving from this rise. Thus, the consumers will have to pay at least three times more for this rise.
The new tariff rises will lead to an increase of 35-45% in heat charges, depending on the geographical area and the technological production level. The hot water charges will rise by at least 30-35%.
Gheorghe Costandachi anticipates that the producers of goods and services will increase the prices of national goods proportionally to the rise in the electricity and gas tariffs. The taxes on these goods and services will thus also rise. The manufacturing prices of the national goods and services could increase by 15% to 50%, depending on the category of products and services and the volume of electricity or gas consumed for making them.
