Satiric poet, epigramist and translator Efim Tarlapan died in the evening of December 8 at the age of 71. The body of the poet will be laid at the Cathedral “Sfanta Teodora de la Sihla” in Chisinau at 5pm on December 10 so that those who want can bid farewell to him, IPN reports.
The commemoration service will take place at the Writers Union of Moldova between 10am and 12 noon on December 11. The poet will be buried at the Central Cemetery on Armeneasca St.
One of the most prolific writers, Efim Tarlapan contributed to literature over 60 book titles, original writings, anthologies and translations from universal history, which include satire works, stories, parodies, epigrammatic miniatures, poems for children, essays and aphorisms. The books he edited during his lifetime make him one of the most prominent representatives of the satirical-humoristic genre. He was the organizer of the first National Festival of Epigrams.
Efim Tarlapan was conferred the Master of Literature title and the Order of Honor of the Republic of Moldova. He was a Citizen of Honor of Cluj-Napoca Municipality and a Member of Honor of the Union of Epigramists of Romania.
