Eight days of national movies about human rights
The fourth Human Rights Film Festival was opened Friday with the movie “Arrivederci”, produced under the direction of Valeriu Jereghi. The festival will last for eight days, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Vanu Jereghi, director of the Moldova Institute for Human Rights (IDOM), which organizes the festival, said that this year there will be screened only national pictures and no foreign movies as the previous years.
”The festival includes a number of activities, one of which is the screening of pictures about human rights. There will be also staged a contest-exhibition of caricatures and drawings on human rights. The aim of the events is to educate the people on human rights,” said Vanu Jereghi.
Valeriu Jereghi said he was honored that his movie opened the festival. “I’m proud that after winning 15 international prizes during two years, ““Arrivederci” was finally invited to his festival by the first official organization,” said the director.
”Arrivederci” is about the longing for the parents working abroad. “The most difficult moments in this movie are when the child keeps silent and remembers his childhood when he was with his mother and there were laughs in the house,” said Valeriu Jereghi.
Attending the festival, Prime Minister Vlad Filat awarded the director a first-degree Government Diploma for the work done and for promoting Moldova’s image abroad. He congratulated Valeriu Jereghi on managing to successfully combine the camera work and the topic of human rights.
On December 3, there will be screened the movie “The Black Carnation”, on December 4 – “Anita”, on December 5 – the documentaries “What is the solution against violations?” and “Persecution in Bessarabia”, on December 7 – the pictures “Life conditions in hyphen” and “Hope for the future”, while on December 8 – “Dear Alisa”. The festival ends on December 9 with the movie “Maintaining Peace”.
The first festival was staged by UNDP Moldova. Afterward, it has been organized by IDOM. The festival will take place simultaneously in Chisinau and in Balti. In Chisinau, the movies will be shown at the Odeon Movie Theater, while in Balti – at the Patria Movie Theater. Entrance is free of charge.
The International Human Rights Day is celebrated annually across the world on December 10.
