Eight persons with COVID-19 in a serious state

Eight persons diagnosed with the novel coronavirus are in a serious state. Seven of them are at the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorbă”, while a female patient is at the National Clinical Hospital. The other infected persons are in a medium grave and satisfactory condition. The state of health of the four infected children is satisfactory, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu was quoted by IPN as saying after the March 21 meeting of the National Focal Point.

The minister noted that 66 cases of infection with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Moldova to date. Of these, 31 are cases of import, while 35 are cases of local transmission. More people became infected locally and this shows that the population does not show enough responsibility to prevent the spread of infection.

Viorica Dumbrăveanu called again on the population to stay at home, to avoid going out and to take all the protection and personal hygiene measures. She also urged to present correct information to the medical personnel if trips were made abroad and there was contact with infected persons.

A number of 121 persons suspected of being infected with COVID-19 are waiting for the test results. About 24,000 people are supervised at home by family doctors.

A state of emergency was declared in Moldova for 60 days as of March 17. As many as 49 cases of infection with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Moldova so far. An infected woman died, while a patient is considered cured.
