Eighth international prize for “Arrividerci”

Moldovan movie “Arrividerci” won one more international award – the prize for the best direction of the “Stupeni 2009” international film festival dedicated to human rights. The festival was held in the Ukrainian town of Kharkov between December 12 and 19 and brought together 175 movies representing 43 countries. Russia presented 28 movies, the United States - 21, Spain – 20, Ukraine – 14, France – 12. Moldova was represented by “Arrividerci”. “The prize for the best direction at a human rights festival is a success for our team. This was our aim – to attract people's attention to the fate of the children who live without parental care and lack feelings of affection and security,” said the film's director Valeriu Jereghi. “This year, when the state parties to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child marked 20 years of the signing of this document, we launched a social campaign and offered the Moldovan public the possibility of watching this movie in cinemas free of charge. “I want to believe that “Arrividerci” surprised our public and our filmmakers and will give a fresh impetus to making great films, though on a tight budget. Besides, I'm glad that we took a step towards European integration through culture as this is also a path that should be covered,” the director said. “Arrividerci” traveled across Europe during a year. It was seen by European MEPs and Moldovans in Italy, France, Portugal and in Moldova. It has won eight international prizes, including the Absolute Prize of the Salerno Festival, which is one of the oldest film festivals in Italy.
