Eleventh Night of Art exhibition and sale to open

The International Women’s Club of Moldova (IWCM) is staging the eleventh Night of Art charity exhibition and sale on June 13. The event is aimed at promoting Moldovan artists and at collecting funds for children receiving treatment for leukemia and other serious types of cancer, IPN reports.

The wife of the U.S. ambassador to Moldova, IWCM co-president Marie Moser told a news conference that the Moldovan artists must be supported. The event will involve representatives of the Moldovan business community, diplomats and artists. There will be auctioned 12 paintings made by prominent Moldovan artists. The auction will be a closed-type one. Everyone will privately present the sum from which the auction will start.

IWCM co-president Pakize Banu Cankan, the wife of the Turkish ambassador, said the event is important both for Moldovan artists and for those who want to contribute to a noble cause. “The proceeds will be donated to sick children who need medicines and other important things. We would like the others to be keener and to take part in the event together with us, in a pleasant atmosphere,” she stated.

Joana Batson, co-president of the IWCM and wife of the ambassador of the UK, said the event is open to everyone. “There will be a workshop and the children will be able to create works of art in concert with grownups,” she said.

At this year’s exhibition and sale, the visitors can admire and buy works by over 90 artists of Moldova, including the paintings that will be auctioned. The proceeds will be donated to Hospice Angelus for the Caring for Caregivers program designed for terminally ill people.

Tickets cost 150 lei. The event takes place at Leogrand Hotel starting at 6pm.

Founded in 1997, the IWCM has so far collected over US$450,000 for different charity projects within the staged events.
