An employee of the Râșcani Emergency Medical Assistance Substation lost the battle with COVID-19. The man, who worked as an ambulance driver, was to turn 64 in September, IPN reports.

The National Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Center said that Vasile Petruleac had worked as an ambulance driver since March 2017. This is the 19th death among healthcare workers so far.

Moldova by now has got 9,247 confirmed infections with COVID-19. Of those who contracted the virus 1,700 are healthcare workers.

The number of deaths associated with the novel coronavirus rose to 323.
