The persons involved in the case of the young woman who was left to give birth alone in the toilet of the Mother and Child Institute were suspended from posts for the period of the investigation opened to establish all the circumstances. The institution’s administration immediately set up a commission for examining this case and launched an internal inquiry, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Mother and Child Institute.

“When the circumstances of this case are determined, all those to blame, who violated the medical deontology and ethics and the regulations of the subdivision will be penalized and all the necessary measures will be taken in relation to these,” says the press release.

The administration of the Mother and Child Institute said the patient was hospitalized on December 9 and was investigated clinically. An ultrasound scan was performed on December 11. This confirmed the diagnosis that the fetus developed abnormally. A medical council considered this case and recommended terminating the pregnancy by medicines.

“The termination of pregnancy was initiated the same day, in accordance with the protocol. The procedure for terminating pregnancy under 22 weeks is performed standardly by preparations, according to a scheme that causes uterine contractions and can anytime lead to abortion,” said the administration, noting the moment in case of late termination of pregnancy cannot be anticipated.

The case became known after the young woman wrote about the difficult patch through which she went on a social networking site. “I went through hell and write about my experience with tears in my eyes. They sent me to buy pills that induce labor. I drank the first pill and waited for a day. I note that I hadn’t eaten for two days. The next day they woke me up at 6am and told me to put a pill under the tongue. I started to feel pain in five minutes. I took another pill in half an hour and then another one, four in all. I had terrible pain. No one entered my room. There was a woman mate in my room who was to go home, but stayed with me when she saw their attitude,” related the young woman. She said the pain lasted for 23 hours and the nurse for several times refused to call the doctor. Early in the morning she went to the toilet and gave birth herself. She cried for the nurse, but this didn’t come even if she was near.
