Energocom's public service obligation to centrally purchase electricity for final consumers was extended until December 31 this year. A decision to this effect was approved by the Cabinet, IPN reports.
Thus, the company will continue to purchase the necessary quantities of electricity, ensuring a constant and stable flow.
Since January 1, Energocom has been buying electricity from various sources, through bilateral contracts with suppliers and producers of Romania and Ukraine, as well as from local renewable energy sources or from the energy market. It has the necessary capacities and experience to intervene promptly and efficiently in the management of electricity supply.
The Ministry of Energy said that, by centralizing electricity purchases, Energocom will contribute to avoiding constraints related to the use of interconnection capacity and preventing congestion, which can negatively influence the final purchase price.
"This measure will support the stability of Moldova's energy sector, ensuring the continuity and accessibility of electricity for consumers," said the institution.
