European Commission’s Delegation will hold activities dedicated to Europe Day in Chisinau on May 8
The European Commission’s Delegation to Moldova will carry out activities dedicated to Europe Day in Chisinau on May 8, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At a meeting with the reporters, the Delegation’s first secretary Paolo Berizzi said that the floristic logo of the European Union will be inaugurated on Stephan the Great Boulevard, near the Alley of the Classic Writers, at 15.30. It will cover an area of 80 square meters and was put together with the help of students from a number of education establishments of the country.
The Mihai Eminescu Theater will host the "Colors of Europe” Fashion Show contest, which will start at 16.00. Twenty-seven students from the Academy or Arts and the University “Perspective” will take part in the contest. A number of famous singers loved by the youth will give a recital in honor of Europe Day, the cited source said.
The Europa Trophies will be awarded during the Europa Awards Gala that will take place at the Mihai Eminescu Theater starting at 17.00. There will be awarded not only the winners of the Fashion Show contest, but also the students of the high schools that participated in the European School contest. They wrote essays about the European integration and the main European institutions and their aims and presented 65 poems and 250 drawings. The jury composed of poets and artists assessed the works and choose the best. The prizes will include a digital photo camera.
The Europa Awards Gala will end with a contest organized by the Chisinau City Hall. The entrance is free of charge.
Paolo Berizzi said that events dedicated to Europe Day will also take place in Balti and Cahul, on May 17 and 25, as agreed with the local authorities. The European Commission’s Delegation plans to organize more activities dedicated to Europe Day the next years.
Most of the European states mark Europe Day on May 9.
