Examination of cases of Botnari and Papuc is delayed for unknown reasons, Prosecutor General
Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco said he does not understand why the court delays examining the cases of former Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc and former police commissioner of Chisinau Vladimir Botnari.
In a meeting on June 8, Valeriu Zubco told Acting President Mihai Ghimpu that he will notify the Supreme Council of Magistrates of this, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“It seems to me that this is a biased move,” the prosecutor said, adding it is not clear why the cases that were initially sent to the Centru District Court were then remitted to the Buiucani District Court, but later the Court of Appeals decided that they should be sent back to the first court.
Valeriu Zubco said all the cases opened against police officers are examined by one judge. He said he will inform the Supreme Council of Magistrates of this fact as well.
Gheorghe Papuc and Vladimir Botnari are accused of misconduct in office in April 2009 that resulted in the death of Valeriu Boboc and other serious consequences. They both plead not guilty.
