“Exdrupo” chief says when street marking works in Chisinau will start

The municipal authorities cannot say exactly when the street marking works in Chisinau will begin as the tender contest for purchasing paint is challenged. Contacted by IPN for a comment, acting manager of the municipal road maintenance company “Exdrupo” Sergiu Tomiță said the paint could be delivered in a week if the National Dispute Resolution Agency gives a positive verdict.

At the start of February, the municipality chose the contractor, but the results of the tender contest were disputed by another participant for the reason that the winning firm didn’t present the compliance certificate for the paint. A new firm was chosen following reevaluation, but the results were challenged again, this time by the firm that was initially declared winner.

If the National Dispute Resolution Agency upholds the results of the tender contest, the company’s employees will start the marking works immediately after the paint is delivered and the weather permits. Otherwise, a new tender contest will be held.

Markings will be applied primarily on the main streets of Chisinau. Towards the end of summer, closer to the start of the new school year, the marks on pedestrian crossings near education institutions will be renewed.

The costs associated with road marking in Chisinau were estimated at 3.6 million lei. Last year the markings works started in the second half of May.
