Exhibition of stamps dedicated to Mihai Eminescu

The Association of Philatelists, Maximaphilists and Postcard Collectors of Moldova opened an exhibition of stamps dedicated to 125 years since poet Mihai Eminescu passed through Bessarabia in his journey from Iasi to Kuialnic, Odessa, for medical treatment. The exhibit housed by the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History will continue by August 7. The first international exhibition of the kind is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry. The exhibition includes unique stamps, postmarks and postcards from Moldova and Romania, which depict the work and life of Mihai Eminescu. The ICT Ministry in concert with Moldova’s Post Office will award prizes for the best exhibits. The Ministry also issued a philatelic envelope with an imprinted stamp representing the poet and a series of special postage stamps that will be used in the post offices of the settlements crossed by Mihai Eminescu. In August, it is 125 years since Mihai Eminescu passed via Bessarabia. The poet traveled by train through Ungheni, Calarasi, Straseni, Chisinau, Bulboaca and Varnitsa.
