Farmers can apply for direct livestock payments

Farmers can apply for direct payments in the livestock sector. This year, for the first time, the direct payment for a kilogram of sheep’s and goat’s milk is launched, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry announced the launch of the third call for applications. Thus, livestock breeders can submit applications for direct payments per animal between July 11 and September 13. Applications for direct payments per kilogram of product (cow’s, sheep’s and goat’s milk) can be submitted between July 11, 2024 and August 23.

Livestock breeders whose livestock farms are authorized and the animals are identified and insured are eligible for direct payments per animal.

According to the Ministry, the impact of the previous measures is significant, with the number of subsidized cattle increasing from 5,100 in 2021 to over 17,400 in 2022. The amount of subsidized cow’s milk increased from 29,000 tonnes in 2022 to over 42,000 tonnes in 2023.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry encourages all livestock breeders to submit applications to the local offices of the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) by the announced deadlines so as to benefit from state support. All the additional details can be found on the AIPA page.
